Programme summary

Psychosocial interventions are a range of non-pharmacological interventions which address the issues associated with mental illness from the psychological, social, personal, recreational and vocational perspective. This short CPD programme will provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills to integrate psychosocial interventions into their daily practice and care planning.

Programme aims

 

1. To provide up-to-date, evidenced based knowledge to develop the nurses theoretical and practical understanding of psychosocial interventions in mental health settings.

2. To enhance the nurses confidence, skills and competences through advancing existing knowledge in the provision of psychosocial interventions in mental health settings.

Learning outcomes

 

At the end of this CPD programme, participants will be able to:

1 Understand the theoretical underpinnings of psychosocial interventions and their role in effective person centred mental health care

2 Critically explore evidence based knowledge of psychosocial interventions and how it enhances the care of people with mental health issues in various care settings

3 Critically discuss the concept of psychosocial interventions and how they contribute to enhancing care delivery and quality of care experience for people with mental health problems and their families

4 Critically analyse how knowledge of key issues regarding psychosocial interventions impacts on nursing practice

5 Critically discuss the practical skills explored and how they may be applied in daily practice and care planning.
