The successful participant who completes this course will understand what assertiveness is, and how to differentiate this from aggression. The participant will comprehend the necessity of assertiveness as a life skill, and its impact on self-esteem, self-confidence and self-efficacy. These enable the person to feel more in control of their lives – to be active participants in life, rather than just passive victims of ‘stuff that happens’ – a major part of mental health. The programme concludes with learning the best approach to dealing with conflict.
