Bridget has extensive experience as a Psychiatric Nurse. Bridget has specialised in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and is an Advanced level WRAP Facilitator for the last 5 years.

Programme summary

This programme provides an introduction to Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), a structured system for monitoring uncomfortable and distressing feelings, behaviours and thoughts. The participant will understand the origins, history and definition of WRAP.As well as the basic structure of WRAP and how it can be applied to daily life to improve the quality of life. It will signpost further training and research in the area of Recovery and Wellness that will benefit the Candidate in their future progress through life. Gives the participant a deeper knowledge of what is involved in WRAP and allows him/her to answer questions posed by clients.

Programme aims

 

1. To provide registered nurses and midwives with up-to-date, evidenced based knowledge on how the programme will benefit them, their families and their clients.

2. To support registered nurses and midwives in enhancing their confidence, skills and competences, with regard to self-care and WRAP.

Learning outcomes

 

At the end of this CPD programme, participants will be able to:

1. Critically discuss the history, foundations and structure of the Wellness Recovery Action Plan

2. Critically analyse the five key concepts of recovery and demonstrate an understanding of the importance of having them in your everyday life to improve your quality of life.

3. Critically analyse the importance of the wellness toolbox and its practical application

4. Critically explore the various sections of WRAP (Daily Maintenance Plan, Triggers, Early Warning Signs, Crisis Plan and Post Crisis Plan) and demonstrate knowledge of the associated action plans

5. Recognise the implementations for the CRISIS PLAN in line with the capacity for consent legislation.
