PSYCHIATRIC NURSES ASSOCIATION of Ireland

The Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) said today (Weds. Nov. 28th) there are now serious doubts about the Government's commitment to the implementation of the 'Vision for Change' (VFC) strategy for the delivery of mental health services.

Launching the PNA's Pre Budget Submission, General Secretary, and Des Kavanagh said: "There is little doubt that the Government's cost cutting measures have had a disproportionate impact on the fundamental goal of delivering a quality mental health service outlined in 'Vision for Change'. It is blatantly clear that managers in the HSE have a whole different take on its implementation. Members of this union (PNA) are now coming to the conclusion that the HSE are ultimately using the 'Vision for Change 'document as a fiscal scalpel to cut services instead of enhancing them."
