INVITATION TO FOCUS GROUPS relating to the Development of a Scheme(s) to demonstrate Maintenance of Professional Competence for Nurses and Midwives

In the future all nurses and midwives will be required to meet the requirements of a professional competence scheme in order that they maintain their registration(s) with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (previously An Bord Altranais).

What are your opinions in relation to the potential components of a professional competence scheme?

All stakeholders with an interest in this topic area are most welcome.

Stakeholders that may be interested in participating in focus groups include: members of the multidisciplinary team, patients, members of the general public, representatives from the Health Service Executive, Department of Health, Voluntary and Private Services, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Union bodies and professional organisations and nurses and midwives from across the varying divisions of the register and in varying roles.

This list is not exhaustive; all those with an interest in the development of professional competence scheme(s) for nurses and midwives are most welcome.

If you decide to take part we will arrange for you to join a focus group discussion with 6-10 other people at a setting nearest to you or via teleconference.

National University of Ireland Galway, 10th March @ 14.00

St. Angela's College Sligo, 16th March @ 14.00

University College Limerick, 16 th March 2015 @ 15.00

Kerry CNME, Kerry General Hospital 16th March @ 14.00

Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, 19 th March 2015 @14.30

Focus group(s) can be facilitated via teleconference (for those who find may find it difficult attend the listed locations): 11 th March 17.00-18.30hrs; 12 th March 16.00-17.30hrs; 16 th March 2015 12-13.30hrs.

PNA BURSARIES FOR HORATIO CONGRESS BERLIN MAY 15-17, 2025

Dear Colleagues,

This year the PNA will continue its sponsorship of Members to attend the Horatio European Congress organised by Horatio and the German Psychiatric Nurses, having done so previously for events in Lisbon, Malta, Istanbul, Stockholm, Prague, Faroe Islands, Copenhagen and Malmo

The PNA in supporting this Congress are pleased to confirm a number of bursaries which will be offered by lottery to Presenters of Papers, Officer Board Members, Branch Officers and Members.

This year’s bursaries will be worth approximately €1000.This Bursary is based on the combined cost of the Congress Fees, Flights and Accommodation.
