Saint John of God Hospital, an independent 183 bed acute psychiatric teaching hospital, is one of the leading European providers in mental healthcare treatment services.  The Hospital currently provides specialist services for adults in psychotic disorders, eating disorders, substance misuse, addictions, psychiatry of later life in addition to the specialist adolescent in-patient assessment and treatment unit, commissioned in August 2005. 

Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adolescent Mental Health (CNM2 - Permanent - Full time )

The Ginesa Suite at St John of God Hospital is a Tertiary National Referral service which Assesses and Treats Adolescents with a variety of Mental Health issues. The Clinical Nurse Specialist works as a pivotal member of the Multidisciplinary Adolescent Mental Health Team. The specialist practice will encompass a major clinical focus, which comprises of assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care given to young persons and their families in the hospital and outpatient setting.

Applicants are required to have:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the various mental health disorders affecting young people and their families, together with knowledge and experience of the range of therapeutic interventions and treatment modalities available.
  • The ability to work as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills by demonstrating ability to co-ordinate and motivate staff in service delivery.
  • Evidence of excellent leadership and facilitation and management skills
  • Extensive clinical experience and expertise (a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in mental health services including a minimum of two years' experience in Adolescent Mental Health).
  • A Level 8 post-registration National Qualifications Authority of Ireland major academic award relevant to the specialist area of Adolescent Mental Health.

This year the PNA will continue its sponsorship of Members to attend the Horatio European Congress organised by Horatio and the German Psychiatric Nurses, having done so previously for events in Lisbon, Malta, Istanbul, Stockholm, Prague, Faroe Islands, Copenhagen and Malmo

The PNA in supporting this Congress are pleased to confirm a number of bursaries which will be offered by lottery to Presenters of Papers, Officer Board Members, Branch Officers and Members.

This year’s bursaries will be worth approximately €1000.This Bursary is based on the combined cost of the Congress Fees, Flights and Accommodation.
